5 Reasons Why the Millenium MPS-450 is the Best Choice for Drummers

millenium mps-450

As a drummer, I am always looking for affordable electronic drum kits that appeal to both beginners and advanced players. After testing dozens of drum kits, there is one kit that I believe is the absolute best choice for beginners: the Millenium MPS-450.

Are you curious why this is the best choice? In this blog I will tell you the 5 most important reasons.

  1. Sturdy and stable design

When I took the Millenium MPS-450 out of the box, the sturdiness of the steel rack immediately struck me. Compared to other kits in this price range, the rack offers a super stable base, which is very pleasant while playing. In addition, the rack has two horizontal bars, instead of a single bar like the popular Alesis Nitro Max ( I compared these kits with each other before ).

  1. Realistic playing feel thanks to the 10″ snare and larger kick pad

The 10″ snare pad and 8″ tom pads are equipped with mesh heads. The large surface of the snare is particularly pleasant and comes close to the playing feel of an acoustic snare, especially because you can adjust the tension of the head. In addition, the kick pad is larger than that of the Alesis Nitro Max, making it more suitable for a double bass pedal.

  1. Quality of the sounds

The module offers 408 sounds and 30 pre-programmed kits that sound surprisingly realistic. Jazz, rock, pop, world music – all genres can be found in this module. The module also contains a number of training modules with which you can develop yourself as a drummer. For an electronic drum kit in this price range, the sounds sound very good.

  1. Expansion possibilities

A big plus is the ability to expand the kit with extra pads (for example an extra tom and/or cymbal). This allows you to adjust your setup as you improve as a drummer or want more possibilities. Of course, most electronic drum kits can do this, but with the MPS-450 the extra pads are also very affordable (an extra 12″ crash will cost you less than 50 euros).

  1. Very attractive price

At the time of writing, the Millenium MPS-450 is around 400 euros. Considering that an average beginner electronic drum kit costs 500 euros, this is a very reasonable price.

Negatives?

Are there any downsides? Absolutely. The kit does not have Bluetooth, which is something that almost all modern e-drum sets have these days. With Bluetooth you can connect your smartphone and play along wirelessly with your favorite music.

Fortunately, by purchasing a Bluetooth adapter, you can still easily make a Bluetooth connection on the Millenium MPS-450. How exactly this works, you can read here: How to Receive Bluetooth on any Electronic Drum Kit: Step-by-Step Explanation .

Conclusion

For an attractive price, the Millenium MPS-450 offers a set of features that you would normally expect in a more expensive kit. In particular, the stability, something that is not always good with other kits in this price range, is perfect with the MPS-450.

So are you a (beginner) drummer looking for an electronic drum kit that has it all, and is also affordable? My advice is definitely to choose the Millenium MPS-450.
